Onitis alexis (Bronze dung beetle)

A southern African species introduced to assist in burial of cattle dung; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Dung_Beetle_Project

Body 13-20mm long; pronotum green, red or coppery, elytra light brown to gold. The clypeal ridge (across the front spade-shaped part of the head) is nearer to the frontal ridge (further back on the head, in front of the eyes) than to the front of the head. The male has a single curved 'rose thorn' spur on the hind femur.
