This caterpillar is greenish grey and hairy, with black and white markings. It appears to feed on algae growing outdoors on brick, stone and wood. It grows to a length of about 1 cm.
The male and female adult moths of this species are very similar. They have dark grey forewings each with two jagged dark bands across them. The hindwings are yellow with brown margins. The wingspan is about to 2.5 cms.
The species has been found in: Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia.
