User's notes

I suggest this species due to following from original sp description ".... Head, thorax, and abdomen shining white. .......... Palpi above white, second joint beneath fuscous, except towards base. Antennae fuscous. ..." full description see http://xyloryctinemothsofaustralia.blogspot.com/2010/06/xylorycta-leucophanes_30.html

The original species description cited is apparently consistent with this side-on image, but I have not seen photos of reliably identified images from life which closely match this one. Other namesdspecies apparently show a very fine black costal line at the shoulder of the forewing which I think may be just visible here. I notice presumed known distribution of X. leucophanes shown online on the ALA matches where this specimen was recorded. Therefore I have added X. leocophanes to the NatureMapr taxonomy. I do not see the orange coloured legs here which are evident on the ALA photos of X. leocophanes.

If confirmed as X. leucophanes this would be a new species for Naturemapr's South Barwon region and all other NatureMapr regions. Excellent side-on photo.
