Its size, it was living in a vertical hole in the ground. I believe this was one I found that had been flooded out of its hole by a downpour and ponding water. I have seen them with their anal end down the hole and holding onto a stick on the ground to keep their head above the water.
I have enough trouble rearing arboreal species. I have no idea how to raise something that lives in a hole in the ground and eats possibly wattle tree roots.
@WendyEM; Carrots are supposed to be good for Hepi larvae. Anyway, it may be mature enough to pupate. Have you photos of any Hepi larvae you have reared to get an ID? I never managed to get one through except E. australasiae.
